What is the UQ WiMAX Certification Program?
The aim of the UQ WiMAX Certification Program is to certify the connectivity of WiMAX products on our network to improve the quality of service offered to our customers.
What are the conditions for applying to the UQ WiMAX Certification Program?
Prior acquisition of the following certifications is required in order to apply to the UQ WiMAX Certification Program.
1.WiMAX Forum Certification
2.X509 Certification
3.Technical Conditions Compliance Certifications (JATE)
4.Technical Regulations Conformity Certification (TELEC)
What kind of products are eligible for UQ WiMAX Certification?
Products with a WiMAX chipset installed are the target of this program. Products with no physical network interface are not eligible for this programExamples of products ineligible products include, WiMAX chipsets, software, base stations, and measuring instruments.
What are the conditions for application to the UQ-IOT program?
The following certifications are required PRIOR to application to the UQ WiMAX Certification Program: WiMAX Forum Certification, X509 Certification, Technical Conditions Compliance Certifications (JATE), Technical Regulations Conformity Certification (TELEC). How can I apply to conduct UQ-IOT?
Please apply to the UQ WiMAX Certification Program. For details, please check UQ website or the Guideline for WiMAX Compliant Product Development.
What are the test items of UQ-IOT?
UQ will disclose the list of test items to manufacturers who apply to UQ WiMAX Certification Program. For details, please check our website or [Guideline for WiMAX Compliant Product Development].
How long does it take to finish UQ-IOT?
It takes about 5 working days to finish UQ-IOT, assuming no debugging.
What are the test items for UQ field tests?
UQ will disclose the list of test items to manufacturers who apply to UQ WiMAX Certification Program. For details, please check our website or [Guideline for WiMAX Compliant Product Development].
About the WiMAX Specification
Please indicate the specifications for connecting to the UQ WiMAX network.
The UQ network is compliant to WiMAX Forum standard specification, so there are no unique UQ requirements. The UQ network test specification will be disclosed after you apply for the UQ WiMAX Certification Program.
Where can I find the WiMAX standard specification?
You would need to apply to the WiMAX forum to search the specification. Please contact WiMAX forum for more details.
Which specification materials of WiMAX standard should I reference?
It is mentioned in the [Guideline for WiMAX Compliant Product Development] posted on the UQ website.
How are Internet Protocol addresses allocated?
Specification of attestation, and IP address allocation are different depending on the MVNO, therefore please contact them in advance.
Is the UQ network IPv6 compliant?
Currently, IPv6 is not standardized at WiMAX forum; we will consider it based on future trends.
Is it possible to obtain location information?
Currently, obtaining location information by WiMAX system is not standardized at WiMAX forum; we will consider it based on future trends.
What is the difference between control devices and retail devices?
In general, control devices are devices which can only contract with a particular service provider. In case of retail devices, user can choose their service provider, and so the device must support OMA-DM.
What is OMA-DM?
OMA-DM stands for Open Mobile Alliance - Device Management, and it is a device management function provided by the Open Mobile Alliance, which writes subscriber information to the device over a WiMAX wirelessconnection.

What is WiMAX Forum Certification?
This standard certification is provided by WiMAX Forum, with the goal of assuring interoperability of WiMAX devices and networks.
What is Open Retail Certification?
The Open Retail Certification is designed to test WiMAX devices in an end-to-end network IOT environment with common test requirements accepted by WiMAX operators around the globe.
What is Technical Conditions Compliance Certifications (JATE), Technical Regulations Conformity Certification (TELEC)?

Do I need WiMAX Forum Certification?
Acquisition of WiMAX Forum Certification is a prerequisite to apply for the UQ WiMAX Certification Program.
I previously acquired WiMAX Forum Certification with Version CRSL4.0. Do I need to re-apply for WiMAX Forum Certification?
Yes. Please recertify with latest version.
When do I need to take JATE and TELEC approvals?
Please take WiMAX Forum, JATE, and TELEC certifications prior to application for UQ WiMAX Certification Program.
I have developed a WiMAX-capable product embedding a UQ WiMAX Certified WiMAX module. Do I still have to apply for UQ WiMAX Certification Program?
YES. As long as it is a target product, no matter which chipset or module you are using, please apply UQ WiMAX Certification Program.
Is there any logo that I can display on my WiMAX product?
YES. You can use "UQ CERTI" logo after you completed UQ-IOT.
Is it mandatory to display 'UQ CERTIFIED' logo?
It is optional for manufacturer to display 'UQ CERTIFIED' logo.
Procedural Aspects
How Can I apply to UQ WiMAX Certification Program?
Application form and email address for submission is available in our web site. Please fill out the application form with attachment and send them to designated email address.
What happens if specification is changed after obtaining UQ WiMAX Certification.
In case it requires a new WiMAX Forum Certification, please also re-apply to UQ WiMAX Certification.
Is it possible to use UQ logo?
'UQ CERTIFIED' logo is available to use with products which have completed connectivity tests (UQ-IOT).
Does fee applies to use the logo?
It is free of charge to use the logo. Please refer to 'Guideline for UQ CERTIFIED Logo' on display of the logo.
Can logo be used on brochure or leaflet?
Yes. Please refer to 'Guideline for UQ CERTIFIED Logo' for standard of display.
Does fee applies to apply UQ WiMAX Certification Program?
It is free of charge for application. However, testing is subject to fees.
