UQ Communications Launches Public Wireless LAN Service for Tokaido Shinkansen
Provision of public wireless LAN service UQ Wi-Fito be launched on the Tokaido Shinkansen super express trains
Tokyo, December 18, 2008: In addition to the mobile WiMAX service planned for launch next year, UQ Communications Inc. will offer UQ Wi-Fi, a public wireless LAN service as part of the Central Japan Railway Company's Internet services. UQ Wi-Fi will be made available inside N700 trains that run on the Tokaido Shinkansen super express line between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka, as well as in the concourse waiting lounges of all 17 stations along the route.

UQ Communications will be offering mobile WiMAX services beginning February, 2009 in Tokyo's 23 wards as well as in Yokohama and Kawasaki districts, and will be expanding the service area to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka in the summer of 2009. To enhance customers' Internet connection environment, UQ will offer UQ Wi-Fi, a public wireless LAN service that is compatible with and complements mobile WiMAX. The provision of mobile WiMAX and UQ Wi-Fi in combination will enable us to meet our customers' diverse data communication needs.
