UQ Communications Acquires Mobile WiMAX Radio License for the Hokkaido region

TOKYO, May 28, 2009 - UQ Communications Inc. has acquired a license for the Hokkaido region, to operate radio base stations for a new broadband mobile wireless access system (mobile WiMAX) that uses the 2.5 GHz spectrum band. The license was issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications' Hokkaido Bureau of Communications on May 28.

UQ acquires its Hokkaido regional wireless license as it continues expanding its WiMAX service area nationwide, targeting to achieve government pre-designated coverage milestones by the current fiscal year end.
