UQ Communications Announces Start of Information Transmission via WiMAX in New Model of Narita Express

-Adaptation of WiMAX as Information Transmission Method for Large LED Display in Trains-

TOKYO, March 17, 2010 - UQ Communications Inc. (Headquarter: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Tanaka) today announced adaptation of UQ WiMAX as telecommunication line for contents delivery on large LED display of new Narita Express E259 Series, operated by East Japan Railway Company (hereafter, JR East).

JR East has adapted WiMAX this time for high-speed and large capacity broadband at low cost as a method for delivering more timely information with richer video contents on top of existing weather report, news, and flight information offered via data communication line provided by the cell-phone carrier.

UQ has started "UQ Wi-Fi" service on new Narita Express as a free option for UQ WiMAX users since October last year and also started easy-to-apply service for non-existing users, since last month, to apply UQ WiMAX in the train and to start using UQ Wi-Fi on the spot. UQ expects experiences on new Narita Express to be more comfortable with information delivery via WiMAX on top of services we have been offering.

High speed internet via WiMAX is everywhere and at anytime. UQ Communications is striving to offer new internet experiences, as we continue to enhance WiMAX service offerings, and expand WiMAX coverage areas.
