Special Initiatives to Support Tohoku Pacific Earthquake and Northern Nagano Earthquake

 

 

We, UQ Communications Inc. wish to extend our condolences to all those affected by the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake and the Northern Nagano Earthquake.

TOKYO, March 16, 2011 - UQ Communications Inc. (Headquarter: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Akio Nozaka), today announced that UQ implements following initiatives for the sufferers and the evacuees of the Tohoku Pacific Earthquake and the Northern Nagano Earthquake.

 

As a result of this time disaster, approximately 40 base stations are suspended operation as of today, and conditions that make WiMAX service difficult to use have been occurring in the regions implemented rolling blackouts.

 

UQ are working to resolve the difficulties, and sincerely apologize to customers for any inconveniences caused by these earthquakes.

 

Summary of Initiatives

 (1)Extension of due date for payment

Due date for payment of March and April will be extended by 1 month from the date specified on the bill for those customers in disaster affected area and pay bills at the counter of financial institutions based on a bill issued by UQ Communications.

* Customers who pay bills by credit card or account transfer are not applicable this initiative.

 

<Applicable customers>

Customers whose billing address is in the designated areas by the Disaster Relief Act in Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Nagano, Niigata, Chiba, Tochigi and Ibaraki.

* Customers who contract with UQ Communications for UQ WiMAX service

 

 (2) Extension of due date for device return of Try WiMAX

Due date for device return of Try WiMAX service provided by UQ Communications are extended. Cost for Try WiMAX device replacement will be exempt for those customers whose device became unusable due to complete damage or loss caused by this time disaster.

   

<Applicable customers>

Customers whose address on the application form for Try WiMAX is in the designated areas by the Disaster Relief Act in Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Fukushima, Nagano, Niigata, Chiba, Tochigi and Ibaraki.

 

UQ will announce summary of initiatives after expansion of the designated areas by Disaster Relief Act.
