UQ Communications to Launch "UQ WiMAX" Commercial Service

TOKYO, June 8, 2009 - UQ Communications Inc. today announced it will launch a new global standard future broadband service called "UQ WiMAX" in July. This launch follows the free trial WiMAX service UQ has been providing customers since February 26 of this year.

With commercial service on track to start July 1, UQ will expand WiMAX service areas around metropolitan Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and Nagoya.

To simplify UQ WiMAX customer application process, the UQ WiMAX home page (http://www.uqwimax.jp) is enabled to accept online applications starting today, June 8, 2009.

In keeping with our continuous effort to facilitate an open network usage environment, several device makers will release branded WiMAX enabled retail devices in July, while mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) will launch new services over the WIMAX network.

UQ will continue to expand its open network service environment and coverage area to further satisfy our customer needs and to contribute to the creation of an affluent society.
