UQ Communications Announces Comprehensive License Application for Low Power WiMAX/WiMAX Repeater


TOKYO, December 18, 2009 - UQ Communications Inc. (Headquarter: Minato-ku,

Tokyo; President: Takashi Tanaka) today announced license application for  low  power 

WiMAX/WiMAX repeater to Kanto Bureau of Telecommunications, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.


This repeater handles WiMAX signal for both indoor and outdoor, and UQ has developed the WiMAX/WiMAX repeaters together with cooperation from KYOCERA Corporation as both companies developed WiMAX/Wi-Fi repeaters released in September. Release of this repeater is targeting by the end of fiscal year 2009 after license acquisition.


As we strive to fully satisfy customer needs and accelerates area coverage, UQ revises base station construction plan from original 4000 to 6000 base stations that are going to be installed by the end of fiscal year 2009. By utilizing these repeaters, UQ continues to expand area coverage for indoor facilities including hotel lobbies and underground malls, indoor areas including residences, offices and railway vehicles.
