Roaming Service released by UQ, OCT and Baycom

- UQ WiMAX is available to customers subscribing to Regional WiMAX Operators -


TOKYO, November 18, 2010 - Oita Cable Telecom Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Oita-shi, Oita; President: Hideo Sato, hereafter: OCT), Bay communications Inc. (Headquarters: Fukushima-ku, Osaka; President: Tadashi Sano, hereafter: Baycom), and UQ Communications Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Akio Nozaka, hereafter: UQ) today announce that OCT and Baycom which are the regional WiMAX service operators(*) start to provide roaming service by using network of UQ from December 1, 2010.


Customers who subscribe to OCT or Baycom can use high speed mobile Internet service in any UQ service area in addition to OCT or Baycom service area.


UQ will continue to cooperate with Overseas WiMAX operators and Regional WiMAX operators for expanding area coverage.



  * Regional WiMAX service is a service for reducing digital divide and improvement of regional public service. 46 operators provide or prepare their service as of the beginning of November.
